JACKSON, Tenn. — One local organization is giving away thousands of dollars in scholarships.
Tuesday night, Jackson TN Pride held its 2025 Scholarship Presentation Ceremony at the Community Foundation of West Tennessee.
The event honors and celebrates the recipients of the 2025 Jackson TN Pride Scholarship Program. This is the third year the organization has presented scholarships.
This year, a total of $7,500 in scholarships was awarded to outstanding local students who have demonstrated leadership, community involvement and a commitment to furthering their education.
“I feel very excited because this is — that’s a big chunk of money,” said Brynlee LaShay Merriweather, senior at South Side High School.
“I’m ecstatic. It will go towards my further education of becoming a sports orthopedic surgeon. So working towards that and seeing that they trust me and putting up money for me is truly — I’m blessed,” said Mendy Jean Pettigrew, senior at Humboldt High School.
Four students were able to receive scholarships this year, and for the first time, the recipients were given graduation chords for their hard work and dedication.
