Jacksonville, AL – Jacksonville State University students interested in pursuing graduate studies abroad are invited to a special information session about the prestigious Marshall Scholarship on Monday, April 15, from noon to 1:00 p.m. The event will take place in the Memorial Room, located in the basement of the International House.
Hosted by the British Consulate-General of Atlanta, the session will offer students valuable insights into applying for the highly competitive Marshall Scholarship. This British Government-funded program supports up to 50 high-achieving American undergraduates each year in pursuing fully funded graduate study at any university in the United Kingdom. Open to all academic disciplines, the scholarship provides a unique opportunity for students to advance their education and gain international experience.
The session will feature two guest speakers from the British Consulate-General in Atlanta. Sydnie Hammond, Press & Public Affairs Officer, will share her experiences as a dual citizen and a graduate of Georgia State University with a background in marketing and event planning. Eliza Sims, Global Issues Officer, brings over six years of study and work experience in the UK and holds degrees from Richmond, the American International University of London, and the University of London, SOAS. Sims has also worked extensively in international education and policy.
Pizza and drinks will be provided for attendees. While the session is especially geared toward juniors and seniors considering graduate school options, all students are welcome to attend.
This event is part of JaxMIX, the university’s Microcredential Event Series, and offers a unique chance for students to connect directly with UK officials and past scholars about global academic opportunities.
Students are encouraged to RSVP in advance to secure their spot.
