The Gulf Beach Masonic Lodge awarded Earnest J. Freeman Jr. Memorial Scholarship to Jafnah Suha, a Boca Ciega High School senior.
According to a press release from the Gulf Beach Masonic Loge, “Jafnah’s passion for learning, compassion for others, and leadership in both academic and service-based activities make her a truly deserving recipient of this scholarship. As she prepares to continue her education and pursue a career in healthcare, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for success in all her collegiate endeavors. The future is undoubtedly brighter with Jafnah Suha shaping it.”
Suha is her class Valedictorian and a first-generation American student. She received the AP Scholar with Distinction Award and twice won Medical Student of the year. She is CPR and First Aid certified and recognized by the National First-Generation Recognition Program.
Her extracurricular record is just as impressive. Suha is the president of two clubs including Mu Alpha Theta, where she is a tutor for calculus, chemistry, and algebra, and Women in Science, a club dedicated to supporting women in STEM. Her dedication to research and leadership has led her to participate in HOSA events for future health professionals, the Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) program, and the National Honors Society.
To further fill her free time, Suha volunteered to support ER nurses at Northside Hospital. She made cards and blankets for hospice patients through Empath Health. During a summer internship, Suha shadowed doctors in the Cancer and Blood Disorders Institute at Johns Hopkins All Children’s where she won the Internship Appreciation Award.
Suha is also a 3D artist and painter and has won Honorable Mention at the Scholastic Art Competition and a Showcase Award from the Dali Museum. See her piece “Eat Me” in the 2021 Student Surrealist Art Exhibit Online.
