Academic excellence and a dedication to health care earned Lincoln University nursing student Elizabeth Heckman a $1,000 scholarship from Jefferson City Medical Group.
The scholarship was presented by Sarah Cox, a Lincoln University alumna and JCMG Family Medicine provider and nurse, along with physician Tamara Hopkins of JCMG Oncology.
According to a news release, Heckman, who plans to pursue a career in oncology, was selected for her “outstanding academic performance, commitment to community service and passion for nursing.”
The scholarship, which is offered in partnership with Lincoln University, is intended to reflect JCMG’s commitment to supporting students pursuing health care careers, according to the release.
The scholarship program is meant to help build the region’s nursing workforce and support quality care in the community, according to JCMG leadership.
