A Jasper High School student has been recognized as one of 230 students from across Alabama who are semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Kaylee Bivona, a senior at JHS, is among students from 60 high schools in the state who received a qualifying score on the Preliminary SAT to become a National Merit Scholar semifinalist.
About 3.6 million students took the PSAT in 2024, according to the College Board.
Finalists will be determined through scores and an essay.
Nationally, there are 16,000 semifinalists in the program to compete for more than 6,900 scholarships worth $26 million. About 95 percent of semifinalists will become finalists.
Winners will be announced in April 2026.
