PHOENIX, NY – Twenty-eight seniors from John C. Birdlebough High School were recently recognized during the school’s annual Dollars for Scholars awards night, with thousands of dollars awarded to support their post-secondary education.
The event underscored not only the academic achievements of students, but also the enduring impact of the Phoenix Central School District’s long-standing partnership with the national Dollars for Scholars program.
Stephanie Rathbun, president of the Phoenix chapter of Dollars for Scholars, addressed the audience to emphasize the importance of both the organization and local involvement.
“When we support our students, we’re investing in the future of our community,” she said. “These scholarships would not be possible without the support of our donors and volunteers.”
Since the chapter’s founding, more than $1,000,000 has been awarded to Phoenix Central School District students. This year’s recipients join a legacy of graduates who have benefited from the generosity of local businesses, families, and organizations committed to advancing education.
Principal Thomas Bailer, who served as emcee for the evening, lauded the students on their achievements and encouraged them to bring that same level of dedication and effort to their future endeavors.
