July 19, 2025 – The Eichholz Law Firm has announces the recipients of its 2025 scholarship program: Mikel Taylor, Jade Simmons and Danielle Briscoe. The scholarships were awarded at a brief reception at the firm’s Savannah office.
Mikel Taylor, a recent graduate of Benedictine Military School, was awarded one of the firm’s 2025 Scholarship for High School Seniors. This $2,500 scholarship recognizes a local high school senior who has demonstrated a strong commitment to community service. Throughout high school, Taylor participated in various extracurricular activities and community service projects, most notably football, basketball, JROTC, assisting neighborhood cleanup events, volunteering with food banks and serving food to the homeless. Even with committing over 150 hours to community service during the past few years, Taylor earned a 3.5 GPA and will attend Clark Atlanta University to study biology.
The applicant pool was so competitive this year that The Eichholz Law Firm decided to award a second 2025 Scholarship for High School Seniors. Jade Simmons, a recent graduate of Savannah Early College High School, also received a $2,500 scholarship to support her college education. Throughout her high school experience, Simmons gave back to the community in many meaningful ways. Through her work with Future Georgia Educators, she helped local elementary and middle schoolers improve in math and reading. Additionally, through cosmetology she found another way to give back: by helping senior citizens by providing free hair and nail services. Simmons will pursue a career in both nail technology and pediatric physical therapy at Georgia State University, combining a love for creativity and care to make a difference in others’ lives.
The recipient of the firm’s $2,500 Scholarship for Adults Returning to School this year was Danielle Briscoe. Her life journey exemplifies what can happen when challenges are met with perseverance and steadfast commitment. Despite a tumultuous period that led to her dropping out of high school, Briscoe obtained her GED and enrolled in educational programs, eventually joining the Army. After encountering legal trouble, she enrolled in a paralegal studies program to help create change in her community and the legal system. After completing an associate’s degree in paralegal studies, Briscoe advanced her career, working as a senior litigation paralegal. Her next goal is to attend higher education at Mitchell Hamline School of Law and receive her JD to ultimately become a mediator, fueled by the hope of making a lasting difference and being an agent for change.
“Our scholarship program is about more than recognizing strong academics, it’s about supporting and celebrating young people who are dedicated to making a difference,” said firm owner, David Eichholz. “Mikel, Jade and Danielle represent the best of our community. We are honored to invest in their futures and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will continue to create.”
This spring, The Eichholz Law Firm invited eligible students to apply for its 2025 scholarship program. Applicants were required to submit a short application and essay for review. An internal committee of firm employees carefully reviewed and selected this year’s scholarship recipients.
