The Junior League of Dallas (JLD) is hosting its 12th annual Women LEAD speech competition and awards ceremony on March 29 at JLD Headquarters. Former TV reporter and JLD Sustainer Calvert Collins-Bratton will be featured as the event presenter.
The organization will award $40,000 in collegiate scholarships to 10 college-bound women in the Dallas area through the Women LEAD (Learn. Excel. Achieve. Dream.) scholarship.
The program, created to enable female high school students to pursue their dreams of higher education, has previously awarded 72 scholarships totaling more than $345,000 to female seniors at Emmett J. Conrad, South Oak Cliff, and Thomas Jefferson High Schools.
The event will feature speeches from each of the 10 finalists where they will define what makes a good advocate and how they have or plan to be an advocate in their community.
Following the speeches, the judging panel will determine the winners and award college scholarship funds based on the merits of their scholarship application and speech presentation.
Judges of the 2025 program include: JLD President Tandra Allen, Comerica Bank VP of Regional External Affairs Tiffanie Rice, and Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas CEO Jennifer Bartkowski.
