Kendall senior Michael Hallowell has been named the recipient of the 34th Tom Emmanuel Scholarship which is presented annually by the Board 60 Officials of Section V.
Hallowell, who has been a three year member of Kendall’s varsity basketball and cross-country teams, was presented with the $1,000 scholarship at the Ronald McDonald senior basketball game today in Rochester.
Hallowell, who is looking to become an engineer, has had a 95 percent grade point average throughout high school.
Kendall varsity basketball Coach Kevin Rhodes said, “Michael takes time to care for the team as people and as teammates. He can be found regularly encouraging and uplifting the spirits of teammates and has a special gift of celebrating others. Mike has been in our program for three years and has served as a cornerstone to our hard working and team first centered culture.”
The Tom Emmanuel Scholarship is presented to a student-athlete who “has demonstrated good academic values. Has leadership ability and portrays good citizen and community involvement. Has displayed good sportsmanship and is a team oriented individual. And has been a varsity basketball player for a minimum of two years”.
