The Peter Kiewit Foundation has provided up to $90,000 in scholarship grant funding for Western Nebraska Community College students for the 2025-27 academic years.
Scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programs or vocational/CTE (Career and Technical Education) degrees, diplomas, or certificates.
The grant will fund 15 Peter Kiewit Foundation Vocational Scholarships for the cohort starting Fall of 2025, each valued at up to $3,000 per academic year. These scholarships, which are renewable for a second year, provide ongoing support to students throughout their educational journey and aim to empower students, enhance the educational experience, and contribute to the region’s skilled workforce.
“This scholarship is assisting me in obtaining my associate degree,” said WNCC Powerline Maintenance & Construction student and Kiewit Scholar, Jaydon Walker. “WNCC has made the transition out of the military smooth and hassle free, and this scholarship will help continue my education.”
“The Peter Kiewit Foundation is helping Nebraska students access education, succeed in the classroom, and contribute to the region’s workforce,” WNCC Foundation Director Jennifer Reisig said. “We are grateful to PKF for creating this excellent opportunity for WNCC students.”
The Peter Kiewit Foundation Vocational Scholarships are available to Nebraska residents who demonstrate financial need. Financial need can be verified through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or through an alternate method for students who have not completed the FAFSA. Students must be enrolled for at least nine credit hours per semester and must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
To be considered, first submit an application to WNCC, then fill out the WNCC General Scholarship Application. For additional information, visit go.wncc.edu/scholarships.
