The Kiwanis Club of La Cañada-La Crescenta-AM awarded $13,000 in scholarships to local high school students during its annual scholarship program.
The program recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities, strong commitment to community service and engagement in extracurricular activities.
Scholarship categories included Community Service, Girl Scout Gold Award, Hillside School, JROTC, Key Club and Scouting America Eagle Scout Award.
The Johnson Scholarship, funded by a club member donation, supports a student attending an accredited trade school. The Journey House Scholarship, partially funded by a club member donation, assists a young adult who recently aged out of the foster system in continuing college education. All 14 recipients, along with parents and Kiwanis club members, attended the annual event. Each awardee shared college plans and future goals before receiving a certificate and scholarship check.
The club welcomes guests and prospective members to weekly meetings Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 1700 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge. More information is available at LCFKiwanisAM.org.
