The Kiwanis Club of Greater Greenville announced recently it has awarded scholarships to a pair of Pitt County high school graduates.
Isabel Kwon of D.H. Conley High School and Grace Lilley of North Pitt both will use the honorariums to attend East Carolina University in the fall.
Each year since 1996, the Kiwanis Club of Greater Greenville has sponsored young women from Pitt County with community service scholarships, said Joanne Honeycutt, chairwoman of the program.
The purpose of the scholarship is to reward and encourage community service excellence in these recipients as they pursue their higher education at Pitt Community College or East Carolina University, she said.
This year, the community service scholarships will amount to $1,500 per accepted candidate.
