Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos

The Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos is proud to announce our 2025 scholarship recipients. These six outstanding students have shown a commitment to working to bring people together through their community service volunteer activities.

Zoe Bent has worked with the PEEC and Fuller Lodge art camps and also volunteered with a hydrologist at Valle Caldera. She will be studying environmental science at the University of Vermont.

Jonathan Chen is headed to Rice University, majoring in computer science and electrical engineering. He has been very active in Key Club International, serving as Lieutenant Governor for the northern New Mexico region of the Southwest District.

Joy Mei Lincoln’s service activities started with her church youth group and continued with Key Club African Library Project and Save a Life, also Rotary Club’s Meals for Hope. She will be attending NMSU to study criminal justice and forensic biology.

Hayden Kim will be enrolled in the Naval Academy in Annapolis to study nuclear engineering. His service activities include Crossroads Bible Church children’s ministries, NJROTC projects, and a 5K fun run to raise money for veterans’ suicide awareness.

Uxue Sansinena will be going to Columbia University to major in international relations and political science with a focus on public policy. She was active in Key Club at the District level, interned at the New Mexico State Capitol, and served on the LAPS Foundation Board.
Sofia West has been active in both Key Club and Rotary, where she worked on a silent auction to raise funds for an anti-trafficking organization in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She will be attending Baylor University to study neuroscience with an eye toward medical school and Doctors without Borders.
