Knoxville High School’s senior awards and scholarship night will be held Wednesday, May 14th.
This night is an opportunity to honor seniors receiving special recognition and those who have earned scholarships from the Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation and Community Scholarship Foundation. Students, family, friends and community members are all welcome to attend this event that will be held at the Knoxville Performing Arts Center starting with the senior awards at 6:00 pm and the scholarship ceremony to follow at 7:00 pm.
The Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation offers scholarships to every Knoxville High School graduate who applies for up to four years of post-secondary education. Financial aid is provided for students attending trade school, working on apprenticeships or associates degrees and for students pursuing a four-year course of study at a college or university. The Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation is entering its twenty-second year and has provided over 1.9 million dollars in financial aid to Knoxville High School graduates. Knoxville High School Career Readiness Coordinator Tyler Pearson says these donors know they are investing in the future of Knoxville.
“We have a unique situation where a lot of our businesses and our donors probably graduated from here. They see the investment in their future. They see these kids being potential employees someday and coming back to plant roots here in Knoxville and join our community. They know that they are investing in Knoxville’s future, but also these kids and pursing what they want to do. We are very generous.”
Pearson anticipates $100,000 to be given out this year between the Knoxville Panthers Scholarship Foundation and the Community Scholarship Foundation.
