The Knoxville High School senior awards and scholarship night ceremony will be held tonight at the Knoxville Performing Arts Center.
This is the 22nd annual Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation award ceremony and this year, the foundation will be awarding $236,000 in financial aid to 51 graduating seniors and 77 members of the KHS graduating classes of 2022, 2023, and 2024. This night is an opportunity to honor seniors receiving special recognition and those who have earned scholarships from the Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation and Community Scholarship Foundation. Students, family, friends and community members are all welcome to attend this event that will be held at the Knoxville Performing Arts Center starting with the senior awards at 6:00 pm and the scholarship ceremony to follow at 7:00 pm.
The Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation offers scholarships to every Knoxville High School graduate who applies for up to four years of post-secondary education. Financial aid is provided for students attending trade school, working on apprenticeships or associates degrees, and for students pursuing a four-year course of study at a college or university. The Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation is entering its twenty-second year and has provided over $1.9 million in financial aid to Knoxville High School graduates and will exceed $2 million this year. Scholarship Foundation President Curt Froyen says the foundation is a testament to the generosity of the community.
“I always remind the seniors that the people giving these scholarships don’t know them. The students will probably never meet the donors and yet perfect strangers are willing to help them pursue their dreams. I think it’s an amazing thing and it’s unique and it’s special here in Knoxville. This past year we’ve probably had more new scholarships established than any other year and the foundation continues to grow.”
