L-W Business Womens Org Awards $42K In Scholarships To Local Women, Celebrates Recipients – Patch

NEW LENOX, IL — The Lincoln-Way Area Business Women’s Organization in June recognized nearly three dozen young women as scholarship recipients, according to a release.
The women were each awarded a $1,480 scholarship during the dinner at Gatto’s in New Lenox. The event was a culmination of all the work throughout the year and an opportunity to celebrate these young women in person, the organization said.
The organization aims to raise more funds each year in an effort to benefit more women with larger amounts, the organization said.
LWABWO was formed in the 1970s with the passion to raise money for scholarships for young women in the community, the group said. While the organization is involved in many charitable events, its main focus is to raise funds to donate annual scholarships to young women in the community, including graduating high school seniors and continuing education students.
LWABWO holds a Christmas Auction each year to raise funds for scholarships. In December 2024, Auction proceeds yielded $38,830.93.
The group is always looking for women to join their group. Meetings are the second Tuesday of the month at Gatto’s in New Lenox. They will resume in September. Dues are $50 a year and any woman in the community is open to join. Find more information online.
