Labor and Employment Law Section Chair Yvette Everhart with Stetson Law’s scholarship recipients. “The section is honored to support these rising stars in the legal profession,” said Everhart. “I was fortunate to receive this same scholarship — then called the Dean Gary Vause Labor and Employment Law Award — when I was a law student at Stetson in 2006. It was a meaningful recognition then, and it’s even more meaningful now to be in a position to help today’s students pursue careers in this important and evolving area of law.”
The Labor and Employment Law Section announced the recipients of its 2025 Law Student Scholarships. Eight students from Florida law schools were each awarded $2,500 and a recognition certificate for their academic excellence, professional promise, and demonstrated interest in labor and employment law.
This year’s recipients are:
Scholarship applicants must be second- or third-year law students currently enrolled in a Florida law school. Applicants are evaluated on their completed and planned coursework in labor and employment law, related professional experience, internships or job placements, involvement in law school organizations, and pro bono or volunteer service.
“The section is honored to support these rising stars in the legal profession,” said Labor and Employment Law Section Chair Yvette Everhart of Sass Law Firm in Tampa.
The section’s Law School Outreach Subcommittee, co-chaired by Jason Pill of Phelps in Tampa, received 30 applications this year from qualified candidates across Florida.
“These scholarships are not only a way to reward academic and professional excellence but also a vital tool in helping students manage the cost of law school,” said Pill. “By easing the financial burden, we empower future labor and employment lawyers to focus on their studies and career development — and we help ensure a strong pipeline of skilled attorneys committed to serving workers, employers, and the public.”
The Labor and Employment Law Section works closely with each of Florida’s law schools to promote the scholarship opportunity. Applications are submitted directly to the Law School Outreach Subcommittee, which reviews and selects recipients annually.
