With the help of the cities of Lacey and Olympia, the Lacey MakerSpace is looking to empower local innovators by offering two new scholarships for a free, year-long membership.
Located on the Saint Martin’s University campus, the Lacey MakerSpace is a community workshop equipped with tools and training in woodworking, 3D printing, laser cutting, sewing, metal fabrication, and more.
The space is made available through the efforts of the city of Lacey, Saint Martin’s University, and the Thurston Economic Development Council’s Center for Business & Innovation.
The scholarship is a chance for local artists, entrepreneurs, and innovators — from all stages — to advance in their career through hands-on experience, guidance, and essential resources, a release said.
Small-business owners, artists, and enthusiasts are encouraged to apply.
The Olympia scholarship is open to Olympia residents and the Lacey scholarship is open to Lacey residents. Applicants must not have had a Lacey MakeSpace membership in the last year to be eligible.
