Everyone was all smiles at the recent Butte College Scholarship Brunch where deserving students received their award checks and met the donors.
The Lake Oroville Area Garden Club annually awards such a scholarship. Shown left to right, LOAGC’s Scholarship Committee Chair Melissa Ottem presents the award to grateful recipient, David Moreno, while the LOAGC’s first Vice President, Gay Lynne Trumm, shares the moment. Mr. Moreno is a student of Environmental Horticulture and Plant Protection and is a veteran.
The club meets the second Thursday of each month, September through June at 9:30 a.m. at the Trinity Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, 2350 Foothill Blvd., Oroville. Guests are welcome to attend. Contact by email, loagc.info@aol.com, their Facebook page, or by phone or text to 530-566-6357.
Snapshots, reader-submitted photos of community events, are published Monday. They may include service projects, guest speakers at club meetings, awards being presented or kids doing school projects. Just make sure there are people in the photo — no more than 12 — and keep it current.
