A graduate of Lakeland University has established a new scholarship in honor of his late wife.
Paul Meese graduated from the university in 1982 and was met with tragedy in 2019 when his wife of 30 years, Ruth Meese, passed away from leukemia in just 19 days.
In the time since Ruth’s passing, Paul has tried to give back to celebrate his wife’s memory, which now includes establishing the Paul M. Meese ’82 Music Endowed Scholarship.
This scholarship will support full-time undergrad music majors with a strong focus on the importance of art and music in fostering happiness and peace.
Paul and Ruth were both retired faculty members from Front Range Community College in Colorado, and sales of Paul’s book “19 Days: One Man’s Journey Through Grief” also fund a scholarship set up in her memory at that school as well.
Those interested in supporting the Paul M. Meese ’82 Music Endowed Scholarship at Lakeland University in Ruth’s honor can make gifts online by visiting lakeland.edu/give.
