LAPEER — The Lapeer County Community Foundation (LCCF) has begun accepting 2025 student scholarship applications. Applications are currently being accepted for local scholarships designed to help meet the financial needs of graduating high school seniors and those pursuing post-secondary education.
LCCF manages scholarship funds made possible through the generosity of local donors. Through their commitment to furthering the educational opportunities of Lapeer County students, funds have been established which reflect diverse interests and potential career paths. One of the greatest challenges facing today’s generation is meeting the financial burden of the rapidly escalating costs of higher education. Having the support of a local community willing to invest in their future can make what seems impossible, possible.
In 2024, the Lapeer County Community Foundation awarded over $160,000 in scholarships.
The window for applying for scholarships is now open, and this year, the process is easier than ever, said LCCF Executive Director Nancy Boxey. “Our scholarship application is online,” she said. “There are no longer forms to fill out, copy and mail. There is only one general application, and each student will be considered for any scholarship for which they qualify.”
In 2024, the Lapeer County Community Foundation awarded over $160,000 in scholarships, including the Kendall Prouty Scholarship.
To apply, visit lapeercountycf.org/scholarships to register as an individual applicant. There are application instructions provided as well as descriptions of each scholarship available. Information regarding these scholarships as well as others available through Lapeer County school districts is available on each district website and has been provided through the schools’ counseling office.
Deadline for applications is Sunday, March 16 at 5 p.m. Students are encouraged to apply early and contact the LCCF office with any questions.
In addition to youth scholarships, the Lapeer County Community Foundation Women’s Fund offers scholarships to assist “non-traditional” female Lapeer County students. The Arretta Jickling Hill Memorial Scholarship will provide funding for non-traditional women attending any Michigan college or university. This application is available to download and complete on the LCCF website.
