“As a member of the club, I’ve known many individuals who have strong belief systems and desire to keep sportsmanship in the community. One of these ideas is to encourage young persons through their families and/or friends to participate in sporting activities,” said Catherine Hodgson, a life member of the Sportsmen’s Club. “The individuals who sponsor our scholarship applicants are members who participate and involve these young persons in different sporting activities. To that end and looking to the future, we (club members) hope that the recipients of our scholarship funding may/will return to be the future members and leaders in the club and community, supporting shooting sports and future youth involvement.”
The Lapeer County Sportsmen’s Club, located at 1213 N. Lake George Rd. in Arcadia Township, has been a cornerstone of the local shooting sports community for more than 50 years. Spanning 50 acres, the club offers a diverse range of facilities and activities, including archery, cowboy action shooting, handgun, muzzleloading, rifle, shotgun and hunter education programs. Notably, it features a 200-yard rifle range and six shotgun fields, catering to enthusiasts of all skill levels.
As a 100% volunteer-run organization, the LCSC is deeply committed to environmental stewardship and community engagement. Its mission emphasizes promoting safe and responsible shooting practices while fostering a strong sense of camaraderie among members.
