LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – Tuesday, June 24, Laredo College and TAMIU announced a new partnership with the goal to support students in STEM and make higher education more accessible. The project is called LC-TAMIU STEM Connector, and it aims to improve the transfer process for engineering students.
Another highlight of the program is a new scholarship that is designed to help underprivileged and first-generation students pay for college. Dr. Minita Ramirez, President of Laredo College, said this is a great opportunity for students to get a head-start in the field.
“Dr. Kenneth Tobin and Dr. Alfonso Hinojosa have been working together on this STEM grant to provide students with great opportunities to work with NASA projects, research projects and engineering projects that will help them in their future careers,” Dr. Ramirez said.
