A new Dollars for Scholars scholarship has been created to honor Larry Knoblich, a lifelong educator, coach, and beloved community figure in Jamestown, according to Jamestown Dollars for Scholars.
The scholarship recognizes Knoblich’s decades of selfless service, particularly his work with the Runnin O’ the Green charity event, through which he has quietly supported countless individuals — always without compensation.

Joyce and Dwaine Heinrich have pledged $10,000 to launch the scholarship fund, with the goal of growing the endowment to over $40,000 through additional community support.
In a joint statement, the Heinrichs said:
“We want to recognize the countless hours Larry has devoted to helping others in our community. He truly
exemplifies servant leadership and is someone we can all admire. We believe this scholarship is a fitting way to honor his legacy.”
The inaugural Larry Knoblich Dollars for Scholars Scholarship — a $1,000 per year, two-year award — will be presented during the Jamestown High School awards ceremony on May 7. The first $1,000 scholarship
has already been fully funded through a separate donation.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Heinrichs and our community to celebrate Larry’s legacy,” said Elaiune Hegland, board member of Jamestown Dollars for Scholars. “Thanks to the Heinrichs’ generosity and vision, we have the opportunity to establish a lasting tribute that will benefit students for years to come.”
