The Northwest Arkansas Naturals took on the Amarillo Sod Poodles on Saturday evening — but it was more than just a game.
A local family was honored and remembered, and a scholarship is helping keep their legacy alive.
While Saturday night at Arvest Ballpark featured fun for the whole family, the heart behind the game was the Isaiah Arrington Memorial Scholarship.
The scholarship honors 18-year-old Daniel Isaiah Arrington — known to friends as “Ike.”
A senior at Greenwood High School, Isaiah was killed in a house fire in 2024, along with his 6-year-old sister, Vivian, and their mother, Wendy Medrano.
The fire broke out shortly after midnight on East Hickory Street in Greenwood.
Isaiah’s family, friends and coaches, including Greenwood football coach Chris Young, partnered with the Naturals to organize the fundraiser. Fans who purchased tickets through a special link helped raise money for the scholarship fund.
A table behind home plate on the concourse also offered information for those interested in donating or learning more.
The evening included a video tribute to Arrington, followed by a ceremonial first pitch thrown by his sister, Emory Brewer. The national anthem was performed by family friend Klaire Holland.
During the game, Coach Young joined the Naturals’ radio broadcast to share memories of Isaiah.
Loved ones say the night was a chance to honor a young man who made a lasting impression — and to carry that impact forward through education.
