The choir, hailing from Chicago’s Auburn Gresham neighborhood, placed fourth on the most recent season of “AGT.”
Cardinal Blase Cupich made a surprise appearance at the celebration, announcing the archdiocese would match a Leo High School donor’s donation to gift the Leo Choir a total of $200,000 for member’s college tuition.
Students, faculty and alumni all gathered at the event to celebrate the choir’s accomplishment and welcome them back to Chicago.
After the finale of “AGT,” Cupich sent the choir a message of encouragement.
“Leo Catholic High School Choir, you made us proud beyond measure!” Cardinal Blase Cupich said in a post on social media.
