Kids Crossing, a child placement agency that has been serving the Pueblo community for more than 25 years, is hosting a seminar on new and expanded kinship foster care services from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Rawlings Library, 100 E. Abriendo Ave., Bret Kelly A Room.
Due to the passage of a new senate bill on Kinship Foster Care Homes, the state of Colorado has launched expanded services to support kinship care foster families in the Pueblo community, and kinship certification has been simplified.
For the first time ever, kinship foster families, like a grandparent, aunt, uncle, teacher, coach, church companion, or family friend, can now qualify for the same services as traditional foster families. Those services may include crisis intervention, mental health treatment, school tutoring, a financial stipend and more.
September is Kinship Care Awareness Month and Kids Crossing strives to help provide a safe and caring home to every child entrusted to the agency. Register for the seminar by contacting Sarah Bailey at sbailey@kidscrossing.com, or call 719-922-1483 or Se Habla Español 719-828-110.

All Floors Pueblo LLC, a family-owned floor care company, has expanded since its founding in 2023.
Led by Owner Gino Hyppolite, the company provides comprehensive carpet cleaning and hardwood floor refinishing in Pueblo, as well as tile and grout cleaning, upholstery cleaning, and specialized restoration services. The company has also expanded its services in surrounding counties.
“The company’s expansion reflects growing consumer demand for professional, eco-friendly floor care solutions that extend the life of existing flooring rather than opting for costly replacements. All Floors Pueblo’s comprehensive approach addresses every aspect of floor maintenance and protection,” according to a press release.
“Too many homeowners were being told to replace floors that could easily be restored,” Hyppolite said. “We built this business to put the customer’s best outcome first – providing clear options, honest assessments, and results you can see immediately. The Beulah Fire Department has been awarded an $88,000 grant from the state of Colorado as part of the Human-Bear Conflict Reduction Community Grant program.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife recently distributed nearly $1 million to 22 agencies throughout the state. The grants provide funding for local communities, municipalities, businesses and nonprofit organizations working to create innovative ways to reduce human-bear conflict and keep communities and wildlife safe.
Front Range Transload, 604 W. Third St., is expanding to accept business Styrofoam waste this fall.
Front Range Transload opened its business recycling drop-off site in April, accepting aluminum, tin, and steel cans, cardboard, office paper, mixed paper, plastics #1 and #2, and plastic film like pallet wrap, bubble wrap, air pillows, plastic mailers, and more from businesses.
The recycling center has proven to be a great resource for Pueblo, collecting and diverting thousands of pounds of cardboard from the county jail, and several other county buildings, said Cameron Hodges, project coordinator.
“We are about to start work with Pueblo School District 60, helping divert plastic film waste through a partnership with Driven Plastics, a company in Pueblo that turns plastic into asphalt additives for local roads,” Hodges said. “We are gearing up to start accepting expanded polystyrene (styrofoam) — an exciting advancement within the recycling space, both in Colorado and nationally, because it is a notoriously hard-to-recycle material.”
In Pueblo, the styrofoam collection will come from American Furniture Warehouse, Grady’s Food Service Equipment, and several other Pueblo manufacturers. Front Range Transload will also serve as a hub for the collection of Styrofoam around the state and the material will be sent to local manufacturers to reincorporate into a circular product.
Materials can be dropped off free-of-charge by any registered business in Pueblo or the surrounding region. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
To register go to frontrangetransload.com.
