NEWARK — The Licking County League recently awarded two Kelly C. Miller Memorial Scholarships. Each year, the LCL selects a senior male and a senior female student-athlete from member schools.
Licking Valley’s Sam Busic is the male winner. Busic runs cross country and track for the Panthers.
Busic carries a 4.52 weighted GPA. He is planning to major in earth sciences either at Ohio State University or Colby College.
Zanesville’s Chloe Buchanan is the female winner. Buchanan is a tennis player for the Blue Devils.
Buchanan is a 4.0 student. She is planning to major in marketing and finance at the University of Cincinnati.
Miller was serving as the LCL commissioner when he died in 2019. He also was a long-time official of football, basketball and softball as well as a supporter of youth athletics.
