LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Lincoln Girls Organization for Leadership and Development hosted its 10th annual Scholarship Gala on Saturday, aimed at helping students in Lincoln and the surrounding community.
Lincoln G.O.L.D. gives young women in the area the opportunity to participate in classes, all while learning about different career paths and organizations.
The annual gala features a live and silent auction, with all proceeds going toward the scholarship program, helping students attend Nebraska colleges and universities.
“It’s great to be able to give back to our community I feel like that’s a really big part of Lincoln G.O.L.D.,” Josephine Jobst, a member of Lincoln G.O.L.D., said. “For me I love being able to give back through scholarships and know that we’re keeping smart young high school seniors here in Lincoln, here in Nebraska for college.”
10/11’s Megan Conway was the emcee at Saturday’s gala. Since its inception a decade ago, Lincoln G.O.L.D. has given out 311 scholarships worth $622,000. They’ve also mentored 242 girls.
