The Lincoln Track Club (LTC) awarded six $2,500 scholarships to local high school cross country and track and field athletes at an awards presentation prior to the LTC board meeting on June 2.
This is the 11th consecutive year the LTC has presented scholarship awards.
“Each year it is exciting to receive applications from such qualified and talented student athletes,” said Ryan Regnier, LTC president. “It is a part of the LTC mission to encourage the sport of running for all different levels of competitors. This is an honor for Lincoln Track Club. We get to help these competitors further their education and have the opportunity to run at the collegiate level. It is another way to showcase the LTC mission to run, connect and give back to the community.”
The 2024 scholarship recipients are:
• Regan Barnard, Lincoln East High School: Barnard plans to compete for the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where she will study kinesiology, with a goal to move on to physical therapy school. She is the daughter of Craig and Traci Barnard.
• Hudson Davy, Lincoln East High School: Davy plans to compete for the University of Nebraska-Kearney, where he will major in business with an emphasis in finance. He is the son of Jesse and Michel Davy.
• Joseph Dustin, Lincoln Pius X High School: Dustin plans to compete for South Dakota State University, where he will study mechanical engineering. He is the son of Chad and Mindy Dustin.
• Logan Lebo, Lincoln Lutheran High School: Lebo plans to run for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he will major in business management. He is the son of Travis and Renae Lebo.
• Keatyn Musiel, Lincoln East High School: Musiel plans to run for the University of Sioux Falls, where she will study sports media and marketing. She is the daughter of Matt and Candi Musiel.
• Zach Woosley, Lincoln Pius X High School: Woosley plans to run for Nebraska Wesleyan University. He is the son of Andy and Larissa Woosley.
The LTC established the scholarship program in 2013 to assist area high school cross country and track and field athletes who plan to compete at the next level. Scholarships were first awarded in 2014 to six athletes in the amount of $1,000 each. Beginning in 2015, the amount was increased to $2,500 each for up to six recipients. Since 2014, the LTC has awarded $128,500 in scholarships to 55 athletes.
