2025 Scholarship winners Katherine Orchanian and Joseph Saldiveri with LM Lions Kate Bialo, President Lina Pasquale and Elaine Chapnick
Mamaroneck High School senior Katherine Orchanian, and Rye Neck High School senior Joseph Saldiveri were the winners of the Larchmont Mamaroneck Lions 2025 essay contest and were presented with a $1,000 award towards college expenses.
Applicants submitted a short essay describing their charitable work, its impact on the local community and how community service has made an impact on them. Lina Pasquale, LM Lions President, served as Committee Chair.  In addition to Lina, other reviewers included Marie Moreno, Nancy Joselson, Elaine Chapnick and Kate Bialo, also LM Lions Club members.  All essays were rated based on the applicant’s breadth and depth of service and how that service embodied the Lions’ motto “We Serve.”
In May, the Lions Club Community Service Award was presented to Christian Garcia by the Carver Center at the 2025 Carver Scholarship Awards Ceremony.  LM Lions President Lina Pasquale attended the event.
In reflecting on the winners, Lina said “In the spirit of “We Serve”, the Lions Club knows that the future rests in the hands of today’s youth. When young people engage in community service, they become powerful agents of change, fostering bridges of compassion, leadership, and hope. Youth involvement in service uplifts those in need and nurtures empathy, resilience, and a lifelong commitment to making a difference. I applaud Katherine, Joseph and Christian for exemplifying the Lions’ mission in action through their dedication to community engagement”.
