CARBONDALE, Ill. (WSIL) — The inaugural For Kids’ Sake International (FKSI) scholarships were awarded on May 8 at the Branch Café & Market in Carbondale. Family, friends, and donors gathered to celebrate the achievements of four local high school seniors.
Each student received a $2,500 scholarship to support their pursuit of careers in trades, technical, or vocational fields. Two recipients are entering the nursing field, one is pursuing radiologic technology, and another is focusing on cosmetology. The students hail from Benton Consolidated High School, Herrin High School, and Anna-Jonesboro High School.
For Kids’ Sake International expressed pride in expanding its mission to support students in Southern Illinois. The organization is already accepting donations for next year’s scholarships.
The recipients were praised for their resiliency and determination. Saphyra, one of the awardees, shared, “I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the For Kids’ Sake International scholarship that I have been awarded. This scholarship will significantly ease the financial burden of my education and allow me to focus on my studies and personal development at John A Logan. I will forever be grateful for your support. It is an honor to be recognized for my efforts, and your support serves as a strong motivation for me to strive for academic excellence. Thank you once again for your generosity and belief in my potential. I look forward to making the most of this opportunity and giving back to the community in the future especially partnered by For Kids’ Sake International. I cannot wait to work with you again!”
