Three local organizations announced they are accepting applications for their 2025 scholarships.
Alpine Orchestra is offering scholarships for graduating seniors in Chaffee, Lake and Western Fremont counties to encourage college-level studies in the field of instrumental music, preferably for a career in instrumental music, by recognizing outstanding instrumental musical achievement in school and community, a press release stated.
The amount and number of scholarships are yet to be determined, but past awards have ranged from $250 to $1,000.
Recipients will be eligible to apply for a one-year renewal of the scholarship in 2026.

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center Foundation Auxiliary offers a four-year renewable scholarship, $1,500 a year, for 2025 seniors living in Chaffee or Western Fremont counties. Applicants should be accepted into a college or university for fall 2025 in the healthcare field.
Applications can be downloaded at HRRMC.com/foundation/foundation-scholarships. Complete applications must be emailed or postmarked by March 21.

Salida Spartan Athletic Booster Club is accepting applications until May 1 for two $1,500 scholarships for graduating seniors. The applicants must plan to attend a two- or four-year post-high school program and have played a minimum of eight seasons of sports, a press release stated. For more information email the scholarship committee chair at SSABClub@gmail.com.
The club is also accepting applications for the $500 Eric Stout Memorial Scholarship to any senior Spartan athlete planning on furthering their education.
The scholarship is in memory of Eric Stout, who graduated in 1983 from Salida High School where he played football and ran track. Stout was active in the Salida Athletic Booster Club.
Applicants must submit a hard-copy essay explaining “what it means to be a Spartan” in 100 words or less with a cover letter with name, address, school they will be attending, GPA and their intended major.
The essay itself should have no name. Applications are due by April 14 and can be mailed to SSABC, P.O. Box 25, Salida, CO 81201.
