JACKSON, Tenn. — Two organizations come together to help set local students on the right path.

Earlier Tuesday evening, the Community Foundation of West Tennessee in partnership with the Central West Tennessee Association of Realtors hosted a scholarship reception at the Community Foundation office in northeast Jackson.

The two organizations awarded $4,500 in college and trade school scholarships to students across their service area.

“I understand everybody needs them for college but not everybody is set up to go to college. In the real estate world we’re in–tradesmen–we need them, men or women. Welders, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, getting your contractors listens–whatever the case may be,” said Brent Ward, CEO of Central West Tennessee Association of Realtors.
In total, nine students from West Tennessee high schools received a $500 scholarship.
