The Plumas Association of Realtors announces it is offering six $1,000 scholarships again this year to graduating seniors from Plumas and Sierra county high schools who are planning on higher education.
The association’s Leonard H.A. Franz Memorial Scholarship Program is organized in memory of longtime Realtor Leonard H.A. Franz, of Greenville, who helped form and lead the association in 1973 and was an active volunteer for numerous community efforts and organizations until his passing in 2005. PAR raises $6,000 in scholarship funds each year through member donations and raffles.
Once again this year, one of the six scholarships will be dedicated to one applicant from any school who will be attending a trade/technical/vocational school. The other five scholarships will be awarded to one student from each of five schools/community areas: Chester, Indian Valley, Quincy, Portola and Loyalton.
Extra points are given to students who are related to Realtor family members, but students don’t have to have a Realtor relative to apply.
A cover letter explaining the application process, along with a fillable application, is available online. The deadline for applications is May 1.
