Local talent shines at Cinderella Scholarship Pageant – Mesa Valleys Progress

The Cinderella Scholarship Pageant program will be celebrating 50 years in 2026.
Every year the pageant awards thousands of dollars in scholarships to girls ages 0 to 29 years old. Locally, South Valleys Cinderella preliminary director, Ms. Vanessa Moreno-Solis, helps the girls prepare for the pageants. Moreno-Solis works one-on-one with the girls in all areas of the competition, preparing them at a state level.
The girls compete in four different areas. One-on-one interviews are important for the judges to get to know the girls better. There are generally three judges, who ask a series of unique questions. The interview shows each girl’s personality, humor and gives an idea of how she would represent her title in the community.
Another section of the competition is modeling casual and party wear. The girls choose this based on their style and personality. They learn poise and etiquette and have a lot of fun showing their attire.
Showcasing on-stage talent is another factor in the competition. The girls captivate the judges by dancing, singing, reciting monologues, and sometimes, performing musical theater.
This year, the state competition had great representation from the South Valley Cinderella Pageant. The girls who represented Moapa were Gemma A., Brielle W., Ashlyn B., Paityn B. From the Mesquite area were Alano C., Bianca C., Alyssa M., Henley T., Taryn T. and Faith G. The girls ranged in ages from five to 16 years. Several girls were awarded scholarships ranging from $100 to $500.
Thirty-six girls left the state pageant to compete at the international level in Dallas, Texas. Two local international titles were brought home by Baby Nova and Tiny Tot Macie Jae. Both received $4,000 scholarships and will enjoy traveling throughout the United States, participating in preliminary and state pageants.
For the first time, South Valley’s Cinderella Pageant will be held this year in Mesquite on Saturday, Oct. 25. Look for flyers and posts on upcoming workshops that begin in September to help prepare girls for the upcoming pageant.
