LP Building Solutions, one of the county’s largest employers, announced that five local students are among this year’s recipients of the company’s scholarship program, with each earning up to $10,000 to support their college or technical education.
The scholarships are part of LP’s company-wide initiative, which awarded 100 scholarships across North America for the 2025–2026 academic year—the largest class in the program’s history. The program is now in its fifth consecutive year of growth and has awarded more than $2.7 million to over 500 students since it was founded in 2001.
Brad Southern, LP’s chair and CEO, said the program reflects the company’s commitment to its workers and their families. “Supporting our team members and their families is central to our success,” Southern said. “We are proud to recognize these students for their hard work—both in the classroom and in their communities. It is an honor to support them as they take the next steps in their academic and professional journeys”.
Administered by Scholarship America, the program considers academic performance, leadership, community involvement, work experience, and financial need in selecting recipients. In 2024, LP increased the annual award amount and doubled the number of new recipients, strengthening its pledge to support education.
Along with the scholarship program, LP also expanded its Tuition Assistance Program for employees, now covering 100 percent of eligible education expenses for U.S. and Canadian team members pursuing higher education or vocational training.
For the five Panola County students selected this year, the recognition not only eases the financial burden of continuing education but also highlights the strong local ties between the LP plant and the community it serves.
