Since its inception in 1909, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has vigorously defended democracy and is well-known as our nation’s largest, and most widely recognized civil rights organization. Its mission is to see the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights for all people and to eliminate race-based discrimination. Reestablished in April 2017, the Lubbock Branch is a non-profit organizational unit of the NAACP and is governed by a diverse and dedicated group of volunteers serving Lubbock and the surrounding area.
