In 2024, the Lycoming Law Association Foundation awarded seven $1,000 Joseph L. Rider Scholarships to outstanding local law students: Hannah Anderson, Abigail McCoy, Eli Wilk, Grace Kathryn Boos, Francesca Patetta, Joshua Michael Dinges, and Emily Wolfgang. Established in 2023, the Scholarship Program is designed to support full-time law students from Lycoming County.
The Joseph L. Rider Scholarship Fund was created to honor the enduring legacy of Attorney Joseph L. Rider, who practiced law in Lycoming County for 58 years. Throughout his distinguished career, he earned the respect and admiration of the court, his peers, and his clients. Attorney Rider was a founding member of the Lycoming Law Association Foundation, which was established in 1989, and he remained an active and dedicated member until his passing in 2020. The scholarship was established in his memory to reflect the values he exemplified: legal excellence, fairness, collegiality, and an unwavering commitment to his clients, alongside the honesty, integrity, and kindness that defined his character.
The Lycoming Law Association Foundation is honored to continue Attorney Rider’s legacy by supporting the education of future legal professionals. It is the Lycoming Law Association Foundation’s hope that this scholarship program will inspire a new generation of attorneys who will uphold the high standards of professionalism and integrity exemplified by Joseph L. Rider.
Full-time law students who are residents of Lycoming County are encouraged to apply for the Joseph L. Rider Scholarship. The application is available at https://www.lycolaw.org/lla-foundation.
