VERONA — The Andrew D. Rossetti Scholarship Fund Committee awarded $2,500 scholarships to two high school seniors attending Madison-Oneida BOCES who plan to pursue careers in teaching.
Anvita Corron, from the New York State School for the Deaf, plans to study Early Childhood Education at Gallaudet University. She has also completed the Early Childhood Education program at MOBOCES. She is the daughter of Michell Corron of Henderson.
Ayden Zbock, from the Madison Central School District, plans to study Adolescent Mathematics Education at Mohawk Valley Community College. He is the son of Jason and Laurie Zbock of Madison.
The Rossetti Scholarships, awarded June 5, were created in 1988 to honor Andrew D. Rossetti, an Oneida resident and district superintendent of the Madison-Oneida BOCES from 1973 to 1984. Rossetti, also a former Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School District superintendent, had a lifelong passion for teaching.
Rossetti’s wife, Lillian, presented the awards and spoke about the award’s namesake. Current MOBOCES District Superintendent Scott Budelmann and past scholarship recipients Lisa Millner from 1995 and Alexandra Rentzis from 2023 addressed the award winners and their families about the value of a career in education.
Madison-Oneida BOCES cooperatively and responsibly provides educationally-focused programs and services that enable learners to excel. The Madison-Oneida BOCES serves students from Camden, Canastota, Hamilton, Madison, Morrisville-Eaton, New York State School for the Deaf, Oneida, Rome, Stockbridge Valley and Vernon-Verona-Sherrill.
