MADISON — A local home-schooled teen’s phone app that can do everything from personalized education to picking the best chess openings — all without using the internet — netted him a $12,000 college scholarship.
Eric Buehler, 16, son of YuChing and Markus Buehler of Madison, won the scholarship by taking first place in April in Math and Computer Science at the 63rd annual National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium, held in Chantilly, Va. His research paper, “AI on Edge: Novel Post-Training Quantization for Education Applications,” earned top honors in a highly competitive field. He calls the app “Edge-u-cation.”
