The Magdalen I. Iskra District of FCSLA Life – First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, a Fraternal Benefit Society, whose headquarters are in Beachwood, Ohio, held a luncheon on Aug. 2, at Andy Perugino’s Restaurant, Luzerne, to honor the District’s 10 National Scholarship recipients. The National Scholarship recipients received gifts from their respective branches.
Recipients of the Magdalen I. Iskra Scholarship, Adrienne Van Doren Scholarship, and Magdalen I. Iskra District Scholarship were also honored.
Everyone in attendance received gifts, compliments of FCSLA Life. FCSLA Life is celebrating its 133rd Anniversary this year and the Magdalen I. Iskra District is celebrating its 23rd Anniversary.
Scholarship recipients include Marissa E. Jason, Pennsylvania State University-Dickinson Law, Magdalen I. Iskra District, College Graduate Scholarship; Matthew J. Van Why, Holy Redeemer High School, High School Freshman Award; and Jordan M. Ceklosky, Wilkes University, High School Senior Award; Grace E. Washney, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, College Graduate Award; Brooke H. Chapple, University of Scranton, College Sophomore Award; Connor J. Chapple, Boston College, College Sophomore Award; John Paul S. Pierce, Pennsylvania State University, College Sophomore Award; John J. Grove, University of Texas at Austin, College Freshman Award; Daniel G. Balas, Luzerne County Community College; Vocational-Tech-Trade Award, Mary Catherine Pierce, Notre Dame High School, High School Senior Award; Alexis H. Goldman, Parkwood Prep School, Grade 5 Award; Cole Matthew Ceklosky, University of Notre Dame, Magdalen I. Iskra Scholarship and Emma M. Pierce, St. Jane De Chantal School, Adrienne Van Doren Scholarship.
