KATHMANDU: Genius IB World School in collaboration with Mahalaxmi Municipality has provided scholarships to diligent students from community schools within the municipality, with the aim of ensuring equal access to education for all.
According to school Principal Kumar Joshi, a total of 40 hardworking students received support under the scheme — 30 from the basic level (Grade 3) and 10 from Grade 11. The assistance included stationery, school bags, notebooks and school uniform fees.
Speaking at the scholarship distribution program held at the school, Mahalaxmi Municipality Mayor Hari Govinda Shrestha reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to strengthening the education sector. “We are dedicated to providing the necessary support to enhance educational opportunities and this scholarship program is part of that effort,” he said, expressing hope that the initiative would help improve students’ academic achievements and help make Mahalaxmi Municipality as educational hub.
Genius IB World School Ambassador and Senior Captain Vijay Lama described his participation in the program as a privilege, adding that he would continue to contribute to similar educational initiatives in the future.
Municipal officials announced plans to expand the scholarship program by forging partnership with more schools from next year by partnering with additional schools. School Principal Shirish Shrestha thanked all stakeholders for their cooperation, noting that the program’s success was the result of collective effort.
The event was attended by Ward-8 Chairperson Bishwaraj Shrestha, ward representatives, teachers, parents and students.
