“The quarter century of Reaching for Rainbows is a testament to the vision and inspiration of my parents, who saw access to affordable education as the key to opportunity,” said Tim Mahone, chairman of the Mahone Foundation. “The entire foundation takes great pride in how scholarship recipients contribute and give back in their communities.”
The CEO program supports students ages 14 to 24 by matching them with academic and career mentors. The initiative focuses on STEM education, workforce readiness, economic sustainability and life skills development. The Kenosha Community Foundation currently administers the scholarship initiative.
Bear Development has supported the CEO mentoring program for 24 years. “We see the difference it makes in the lives of students who then become contributors in our society,” said S.R. Mills, chief executive officer of Bear Real Estate Group.
Herzing University and Carthage College are longtime education partners of the Mahone Foundation and provide full-tuition scholarships. “Our goal is to give the gift of education to Kenosha and Racine’s future leaders,” said Dr. Jeff Hill, Herzing’s regional vice president of operations.
Carthage Vice President for Enrollment Ashley Hanson said the college shares the foundation’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities.
“We are thrilled to award these scholarships and proud to serve students from both Kenosha and Racine,” she said.
Two community awards will also be presented at the gala:
Both honors recognize individuals who have shown long-term commitment to youth and to the Mahone Foundation’s mission.
Tickets for the event are $75 and can be purchased at www.mahonefund.org or by contacting chairman@mahonefund.org. Sponsorship and advertising opportunities are also available on the website.
