Each year, the Manteca Soroptimist Club awards scholarships to local high school students and women pursuing educational or vocational training.
The recipients were once again from Manteca Unified’s Manteca High, East Union High, Sierra High, Weston Ranch High, and Lathrop High.
This year’s award winners were recognized Wednesday during a special recognition event held at Sierra High.
Honored at this year’s Scholarship Awards Night were: Samantha Sanchez-Benitez of Lathrop High, Duyen Do of Sierra High, Samreet Gill of East Union High, Laura Montanez of East Union High, Michailla Springs of Manteca High, Rowan Fryer of Manteca High, Gianna Ramos of Sierra High, Annabelle Onasuyi of Lathrop High, and Samihah Khan of Weston Ranch High.
Since its inception some 50 years ago, the Manteca Soroptimist Club has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships to local high school students.
The local chapter of Soroptimist shares the mission “to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment” via scholarships and other programs.
