Marietta High School seniors gathered for the annual pre-prom photo shoot at Brumby Hall and Gardens in April.
Marietta High School’s Class of 2025 will have 586 students walk across the stage at the school’s annual commencement ceremony at Northcutt Stadium Thursday.
According to district spokesperson Chris Fiore, approximately $6.7 million in scholarships have been awarded to 180 different students in this year’s graduating class.
But whether students are college-bound or not, Superintendent Grant Rivera said this year’s group of seniors reflects the spirit of Marietta City Schools’ mission to prepare every student for college, career and life.
“As our graduates cross the stage, they carry more than a diploma; they carry the belief that who they are matters. This moment reminds us that hope doesn’t move in one direction,” Rivera said. “It moves with our students into classrooms, careers, communities, and callings that matter. Our role has been to help them find their voice. Now, the world gets to hear it.”
Of those graduating, 337 are planning to attend college this fall, and 32 plan to enter the workforce right out of school.
Two workforce students said they will begin work with McCarthy Building Companies right after graduation and one will join the Multi-Trade Construction.
Marietta’s senior class also includes 11 students who have enlisted in the armed forces, among them including:
♦ Two in the U.S. Army;
♦ Four in the Army National Guard;
♦ Four in the U.S. Marine Corps;
♦ One in the U.S. Navy.
According to Fiore, an additional five students are completing their enlistment to various branches of the military, while one earned the prestigious Georgia Military Service Scholarship to attend the University of North Georgia.
Principal Dr. Marvin Crumbs said as the school prepares for commencement, he is proud of each student’s unique path forward.
“Whether pursuing college, career, or military service, these young adults are prepared to make meaningful contributions to our community and our world,” Crumbs said.
Marietta High School’s commencement ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Northcutt Stadium.
Gates will open at 6:20 p.m. and close at 7:20 p.m. to allow seating before the graduates enter the stadium.
According to Fiore, weapons detection screening will be in place, and Northcutt Stadium’s clear bag policy will be in effect for the ceremony.
Graduates are required to park at the First United Methodist Church of Marietta or may be dropped off on-site, while limited guest parking will be available at Marietta Middle School and West Side Elementary.
For those unable to attend in-person, the ceremony will also be live-streamed on the Blue Devil News YouTube channel at youtube.com/watch?v=uRqFKto9MRw.
