Marietta High School senior Constance Warner was selected to receive a $2,500 STAR Scholarship from the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
She was recommended by P.E.O. Chapter U of Marietta.
The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship was established in 2009 to provide scholarships for exceptional women in their final year of high school to attend an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the U.S. or Canada in the next academic year, according to a release from the organization. The competitive STAR Scholarship is for women who exhibit excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service and potential for future success.
Warner earned an associate’s degree at Washington State College of Ohio by the end of her sophomore year in high school. She is enrolled in the graphic design and video production program at the Washington County Career Center. She is a member of Student Business Professionals of America and vice president of the Graphic Design and Video Production Track. She is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, National Technical Society and Phi Theta Kappa; maintains a 4.0 gpa; and received valedictorian honors at Marietta and the Career Center. She has been awarded community internships at Building Bridges to Careers, The Actors Guild of Parkersburg (audio engineering) and Marietta High School (audio/light engineering).
Warner’s goal is to perform music. She plays a variety of percussion instruments, has had seven years of piano study and four years of guitar and has experience with handbells and the dulcimer. She plans to enter the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California, to study guitar performance.
Chapter U has been a part of the Marietta community since it was organized in 1932.
P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) has been celebrating women helping women for more than 155 years. Since its inception in 1869, the nonprofit organization has helped more than 125,000 women pursue educational goals by providing approximately $432 million in grants, scholarships, awards and loans.
