MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – The Marquette American Association of University Women is looking to raise money for scholarships.
Friday was the organization’s book sale presale at the First Presbyterian Church in Marquette.
Money raised from this event will go towards the organization’s mission of advancing gender equity for women and girls. Chairperson Renee Leow said this includes scholarships for women and non-traditional students in the community.
“Non-traditional students or women and girls in their later college careers, that’s when they typically drop out for financial reasons,” Leow said. “We’re trying to get them towards that goal of graduation. That is our role for local academic scholarships.”
The book sale will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
