MEEKER |  For the second year in a row, Meeker High School was selected as one of four accepted finalists for the 2024 Colorado High School of the Year by the Colorado Masonic Grand Lodge Scholarship Committee. Finalists are selected from High Schools who have graduating seniors apply for college or trade school Masonic Grand Lodge scholarships. Selection criteria for High School of the Year include consistent history of applicants, number and quality of applicants, quality of the submitted applications, and quality of the letters of recommendation from the local Masonic Lodge after interviewing each applicant.
In 2024, the Colorado Grand Lodge awarded eight $28,000 college scholarships, which included one winner from Meeker High School, Bryan Rosas. In addition, two MHS seniors, Narely Olivia and Adriana Price, were awarded $1,500 CMBFA vocational scholarships.  Last year, MHS senior Katie Lockwood was awarded a Masonic $28,000 scholarship.
President of the local Masonic Lodge, Kevin Amack, largely credits MHS counselor Trina Kennedy for the long-time success of MHS seniors being awarded state Masonic scholarships. “Trina consistently motivates eligible students to apply and supports them throughout the application and interview process.” In 2024, fourteen MHS students completed the application and interview process for the Masonic Scholarship program.
The Colorado Masonic Benevolent Fund Association is the 3rd largest scholarship program In Colorado, having awarded over $18,000,000 in scholarships to students pursuing college or vocational school education.  In addition to the Masonic state scholarship program, many local Masonic Lodges are also active in awarding scholarships to graduating seniors. In 2024, Rio Blanco Lodge #80 awarded an additional $10,000 in one-time scholarships to local graduating seniors from Meeker and Rangely.
