NEWS RELEASE
MICHIGAN EDUCATION SAVINGS PROGRAM
**************************
The Michigan Education Savings Program (MESP), one of the state’s three 529 college savings plans, is continuing its 25th anniversary celebration with a new opportunity for families: a chance to win $1,000 in scholarship contributions by linking their MESP and Upromise accounts. One winner will receive a $1,000 contribution, and two additional sweepstakes winners will receive a $529 contribution.
Upromise is a rewards platform that offers cash-back rewards for everyday purchases. Members can earn rewards by shopping online at major retailers, uploading receipts from in-store grocery purchases, dining at restaurants, playing mobile games, completing surveys, and more.
To participate, Michiganders simply need to link their Upromise account to an active MESP account and earn cash-back rewards in the month of May. Every reward earned through Upromise in May increases a participant’s chance to win.
“Our collaboration with Upromise highlights how saving for future education can fit into everyday life,” said Diane Brewer. “As we celebrate our 25 years of supporting Michiganders, this promotion is a way to thank our account holders and invite even more families to start their savings journey.”
MESP recently expanded its coverage so beneficiaries can use their funds to cover fees, books, supplies, and equipment for apprenticeship programs registered and certified with the Secretary of Labor under the National Apprenticeship Act, as well as to repay student loans subject to a lifetime limit of $10,000 per individual when using a 529 plan.
